May is MISSIONS MADNESS MONTH.
Each Sunday in May Kidz World Services focused on a different missionary and a different country The first week, we talked about China and the story of Hudson Taylor. Hudson Taylor was called to be a missionary at five years old. He prayed and read his Bible every day by candlelight from 2 AM to 4 AM, so he could know Jesus better. At age 70, he read his Bible 40 times all the way through.
He and his family would travel on foot from place to place, staying in very poor places, and carrying their belongings in a wheelbarrow to tell as many people they could about Jesus' love, but the most important thing he said he ever did was spending time with God reading and praying. Many kids in Kidz World service said they felt they were called to be missionaries. Let's all pray for these kids, so they can great ready for the awesome things God has for them.
The second week we learned about Ghana. Addison, who attends our church and also grew up in Ghana in a Muslim family, shared his testimony of how he found Jesus. A friend on his soccer team told him about Jesus, and he became the first person in his family and first person in his tribe to receive Jesus. Many people is his tribe were saved since then. He is currently attending Bible school in the US. He prayed with kids and encouraged kids to tell their friends in school about Jesus.
The third week we talked about Paul Yonggi Cho, a boy who lived in Korea. He was diagnosed with Tuberculosis at age 17, and forsook his parents religion of Buddhism after he was told by doctors he was dying. He was led to the Lord by a young girl that was sent to his home by God. She came a couple of times, then finally he let her tell him about Jesus. He accepted Jesus and was later healed. He is a pastor of one of the largest churches in South Korea today.
The fourth week we learned about boy from Mexico. It was the tradition in their country that all people would crawl on their hands and knees for miles to the annual service to show that they were sorry for all the things they had done wrong. It was in one such journey that this boy from Mexico started to question if this was really the way to God. Shortly after that, some missionaries held a service nearby, and he and his mother and siblings went and found Jesus. This boy is a missionary to this day.
The fifth week we heard from the Missions Lady, Mrs. Gwen, who wanted to be a missionary since she was a child. Now God has opened a door for her to touch kids to be missionaries and support missions around the World. We also heard from Pastor Randy about how much we have in this country, and what awful home lives and conditions some kids in Europe live in. Many of the kids take care of each other because parents are gone or cannot even take care of themselves. He told us how we could sell or do extra work to give money to missions.
There are many ways to be involved in missions.
- You can pray
- Send missionaries by giving money
- Go personally to another country to tell people about Jesus.
Talk your family and friends about what you can do to earn money for missions and GO ALL THE WAY FOR JESUS!
